The free Symposium will provide valuable emergency preparedness information for the upcoming 2015 Hurricane Season. The preparedness messages, in coordination with FEMA’s National Preparathon, will address power outage readiness, personal preparedness and generator safety. The information will focus on the needs of people with disabilities, caregivers, and service providers throughout Delaware.
New Castle County’s Office of Emergency Management will provide information about personal preparedness and the new Smart 9-1-1 system in NCC. A live electrical safety demonstration by Delmarva Power and a generator safety demonstration by Lowe’s Home Improvement will be featured at the event. Delmarva energy advisors, customer care representatives, and human resource managers will be on-site to share information about new money saving, energy efficient opportunities and employment opportunities at Delmarva Power for persons with disabilities. UD’s CDS staff will provide information about their new emergency preparedness website, mobile app and preparedness helpline.
